Goodreads asked Pamela Murrey:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Pamela Murrey It was a place that inspired me to write my book "To Return". There is a street in the heart of my city where I occasionally go bird watching. Despite its location this is a restful spot, with open fields and dairy cows and a majestic view of Mount Rainier. Ducks and geese flock to the ponds that form in the fields during our rainy season. One day, after a hectic week I found myself in this place and thought "what an oasis." I thought of how alien I feel sometimes. One thought led to another and "To Return" was born. It is a fictional story based on a real place with characters who are fictional but based on a real person, me. Even Tito the dog has some of my characteristics in him.
