How do you know how to rate a book? I'm a bit new being an avid reader and curious to know - how do you rate the books you read?

Great question!
The way everyone rates books is going to be different and I think
My ratings tend to go something like this:
5 - I read it in a day or two and can remember everything from the book from characters names, places and even side characters.
4 - The story usually leaves me thinking about it for a week and I can usually remember the plot and details
3 - I enjoyed it for the entire time I was reading it.
2 - I wasn't a fan of the writing or plot, or something felt like it was missing
1 - I didn't finish it or it just wasn't for me
