I'm not sure if they are mentioned in the books, but do the main families (Arron, Westwood, Milone, Vatros, Lermont etc) hold any aristocratic or governing titles? Or do they just happen to be the most powerful in their respective regions and are considered regular old islanders? If so, how are they often addressed? (My apologies for cheating and squeezing three questions in one, but Fennbirn is calling me back!!)

Never apologize for asking about Fennbirn! I love that place. I miss that place. I hope to go back soon. Answers: in the less “powerful” cities (Wolf Spring, Bastian City, Sunpool) the families are revered and respected because they have historically had the strongest gifts. But they don’t have governing titles. Dominant families have changed over the years- in the time of Queen Elsabet the Mad Oracle for example, the families were different and the Arrons were on the rise.
Of course by the time Arsinoe, Kat and Mira came around, the Arrons were practically royalty. They’re the only family on the island that behaves as though they have titles. But only members of the Black Council can actually claim that.

Kendare Blake:
Hi! I've started reading Three dark crowns, and so far I'm really enjoying it! But I have two doubts: maybe I didn't read with enough attention, but I didn't understand how it is fathomed which princess has which power when they are still very little. Moreover, are there only 4 kinds of power? (Counting also the war power) Have the princesses got always the same three powers? Thanks!! :D
