Hi there, I was wondering: do you have a "feel-good" book? A book you read when you feel down, a book which always make you smile? A book that gives you hope? Thanks for answering and I hope you have a good turnover of the year! And many many thanks for the books you gave us readers, they brighten the landscape :) Cheers, Edith

Oddly, I was thinking about this earlier today, when contemplating my bookshelves and their remaining space. (I currently have space on my shelves due to a recent drastic culling.) The answer to this question seems pretty much identical with a list of my keepers, which tend to run by author. In no particular order, Georgette Heyer, Jennifer Crusie, Megan Whalen Turner, Terry Pratchett, Ben Aaronovitch, the triple-headed Jayne Anne Krentz (she has two other names she writes under.)
It's a rare and happy event when a new writer is added to that stable. I've recently become a fan of science writer Nick Lane, although his are more "feel-smart" books than "feel-good" books.

Okay, this may be a weird question. I'm reading "Falling Free" and one of the characters said "trade him in for a dog and shoot the dog". This had me gasping for breath! That is a phrase I have only heard from my mother, who learned it from her mother. Where did you pick it up?

Your 5 Gods books contain one of my favorite story universes. I've been tempted to read your other books. I love your character development! I haven't read them yet because I'm nervous about becoming obsessed over another series and the feeling of knowing my mind will never find peace until I devour every single book. Which should I start with next? And may the Bastard forgive me if I find another obsession. ^^ -Kalli
