What inspired you to be come an author? When did you start writing and how hard was it to get where you were?

I can't remember ever not being able to read or write. I wrote my first book in first grade (it didn't get published). I've always wanted to be an author. How hard was it to become a bestseller? Extremely difficult, but tenacity, talent and the ability to be prolific helped greatly. It was my 18th published book that hit the NYT list.
