Lois McMaster Bujold:
So I am looking for a new author (I've read all of your books, so worry not). What authors influenced you within the science fiction genre? Any authors you would particularly recommend (even if they didn't influence you directly)?
Lois McMaster Bujold
I am woefully behind on newer authors.
Of the older authors I read Back When, one standout is Cordwainer Smith. I suspect an unusually high percentage of his stuff may have aged well. Other names to try -- and I haven't reread enough of them lately to be sure about that aging-well/badly issue -- might be Randall Garrett, Poul Anderson, Eric Frank Russell, Zenna Henderson, Roger Zelazny, Daniel Keyes (only one book -- Flowers for Algernon, but with a book like that you only need one), James H. Schmitz and Lloyd Biggle, Jr.

...Ok, exactly how long have you been waiting to spring those perspective shifts in Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen on us? Two days after reading, I'm still counting up all the stuff that categorically changed in that book. I'm thinking some of those have been sitting around as little hints and implications for more than a decade. You, madame, are a literary magician of the first water.

I wonder if you have ever dreamed about any of your characters? Have they or settings/places from your books ever "showed up" in a dream, in any context? Any examples of a character from the Vorkosigan saga interacting with a character from the 5 God series? Do you recall ever having a dream that helped you figure out a plot point or given you aid in your writing? Thank you so much for considering my question.

Hi Lois, this is Albert from Minneapolis, we have met at CONvergence many years ago. I would like to know if you have been approached either via agent or directly on adapting your Barrayar stories to screen. Miles and his family are very interesting characters and that universe has many intriguing facets so I was wondering if you have any thoughts on it on TV or big screen?
