Cristi asked Bea Northwick:

Bea, I read the cruel dark last year and I honestly cannot stop thinking about it. I cannot wait for Lover! Where did the inspiration for this story come from? And do you have plans to release more work like this or are you going to dive into another genre?

Bea Northwick I'm so happy that you loved THE CRUEL DARK. The inspiration for this story came from my own love of Gothic Romance (both classic and pulp), but the need for something "more". I wanted more romantic/sexual tension that didn't just fizzle or fade to black (hence, the open-door aspects), and I also wanted just a touch more horror.

I love "tingles" - the romantic and the spooky kind - so I wrote a book that had both.

I plan to continue my "Romantically Spooky" storytelling! The next book coming up is more Gothic Romantasy. It'll have many of the aspects of a gothic - mystery, angsty romance, a haunting setting, but there'll be a splash of dark magic in the mix.

All in all, I believe that both love and life are beautiful but extremely difficult and sometimes terrifying. I hope to continue to weave those truths into my romances in exciting and thrilling ways.
