I'm glad you have enjoyed my work!
The form of this question, which is a very popular one, gives me some odd reflections on the nature of novels existing in a sort of timeless now, leading to some readers picturing writers as also existing in a timeless now, when in fact the 30-something writer Bujold is a very different person than the 70-something (semi-retired) writer Bujold, and not only for the 40 more years of physical wear and tear. It also leads to different perceptions of the books between the older readership who has been following along for decades, and a (hoped-for!) new audience who is discovering them for the first time all at once, as if they'd all been written and published last week. Which ebooks do sort of invite.
Reader-response is endlessly fascinating in its complexity...

I wish I could write as well as you. Does your editor and friends help you as you write a book or when you finish? I have written a couple of books but that is far as it goes since I keep slipping into present tense from past tense.

Some are made pretty clear: Escobar is Spanish / Central / South American, Kibou-Daini is Japanese with some Chinese, Barrayar is Russian / French / English / Greek. Cetaganda strikes me as slightly Chinese (imperial) but the names don't match; Komarr seemed French but one character shares a name with a town in Croatia, so.....
