Hey Ben! It’s been a few years, man. What are our thoughts on a sequel? Getting to hear the perspective of Norris Kaplan as he figured out- like most teenagers do- that the world doesn’t revolve around him was beyond insightful and interesting. I believe hearing your ideas from other characters views, from where they were left off would fuel the theme of learning and growing as teens. Enjoyed your writing very much!

Hi there, Tj!
Thank you for the kind words... Yikes, it has been a few years now, hasn't it? Oi. Time. I still want to be 27 and living in the halls of Anderson High. Alas.
Unfortunately, a book sequel isn't coming. Norris and the gang will be okay without us watching. (I say this as someone who spends a weird amount of time thinking about Liam!)
I'm currently working on my next YA novel, and it's a whole new set of characters. (This one's a murder mystery. *skedaddles*) Hopefully, people will respond to them as much as they did Norris, Maddie, and the gang. If you thought Norris was prone to mistakes that make situations worse... oh boy.
Not to deal in false hopes, but I did manage to become a TV writer along the way. That's been pretty cool. One day, I'll finally pitch FIELD GUIDE to someone interested in making it into a show. That day hasn't come yet, sadly! That pesky Black teen market, amirite. 🫠

Ben Philippe:
is there any progress on possibly a sequel to the first book of The Field Guide to the North American Teenager, cause the first one was amazing. I like the idea of doing one about Maddie and have Nor as a supporting character and go from where it left off that would be a great story in my eyes?

Also, I really loved how you created your characters, Norris, Maddie, Liam, and Felix all had to be my favorite characters, and that all had such depth to them I felt like they were real, and I love how the events occur, and just everything! But if you were to make a sequel, please do it in my lifetime because I am literally praying you create another masterpiece, thank you. But what was you’re favorite part?
