I can't wait till you finish the Hellbent series! How do you write the side characters in your stories and give them their quirks?

Do I? Well, that's good! A review after I wrote Bully said my side characters were static-y, so I guess I just try to make them more human. Give them an actual presence. Of course, this is a double-edged sword, because then people want their books, and I don't always want to stay in the world.
