Samantha Schoen asked Penelope Douglas:

Hi! Was there any specific movies, places and books that inspired the devils night characters/series? I love the world so much and am doing a deep dive. Thank you for blessing us with Thunder Bay.

Penelope Douglas Hi, Samantha!

As for the story, no, I don't think so, but The Crow is where I first learned of Devil's Night. I'm a huge slasher movie fan, too, so I love the danger and chase aspect of Halloween, Friday the 13th, the classics ;) I've always been attracted to the macabre, so I really just dumped everything I loved into Corrupt (cathedrals, abandoned places, masks...) You could also try this movie https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2872810/. My head about exploded when I learned it existed, because I'd already written Kill Switch, but it's a blind woman on Devil's Night (Mischief Night).

And this sounds kind of silly, but Death Race. When Jason Statham first comes out as Frankenstein in the mask. Yessssss. And also Alien vs. Predator. I know. Don't laugh. I love sci-fi, but when Scar takes Lex under his wing and she hunts with him, that was a poignant moment. I wanted to write a woman running with the guys on a night of fun.

Thanks for the question!
