How did the "choking" fans pose for taking pictures come about? I found some old photos from at the latest 15 years ago and had to ask. also thanks for all the little notes you would write while signing the books, completely ruined the resale value! but it evokes some damn vivid memories when leafing through the collection.

I can't remember exactly when it started, but it was inspired by the flashes on the old cameras that people used for photos before smartphones became common place. They could be VERY bright, and I was often left blinking for several seconds afterwards, so I started the strangling so that I could pull a scowling face, which allowed me to scrunch up my eyes and not be blinded by the glare! :-)

I thought about this the other day. I wanted to ask you, being an author who had seen your work come to the big screen, what were your thoughts on that? Would you go back to Hollywood and let them re-try? Would you try Netflix to get Cirque DuFreak recognized again? Would you want this to happen with any of your other books, being adapted to screen?

Hello Darren, I just finished reading the first four Demonata books, I am currently reading the fifth book. I was wandering what inspired you to write this series and make every other book about the history of Grubitsch Grady's family and their curse or about the history of Lord Loss and his love for chess? P.S. I love your Cirque Du Freak series. Looking forward to reading your other books and series. :P
