Just finished the Bordeaux book club on my kindle and want to get a hardcopy as i enjoyed it that much! what was your inspiration for writing this one? Will definitely go through the rest of your books now :)

Gillian Harvey Hi Stefan, what a lovely message to receive! I'm so glad you enjoyed The Bordeaux Book Club. I lived in France for 14 years (recently returned to the UK) and what struck me during my time there was the way that the people I met who had also immigrated really looked after each other. I formed friendships with people outside of my usual circle and interests and they became like family. I've also seen on line and 'in real life' the way that books can connect people - there are so many groups of booklovers online and some wonderful communities. Finally, I formed my own writing and book club in my little French town and made some firm friends - it lasted for about a year and a bit and was a lifeline for me at a particular point in my life. So I think all of those experiences combined became the inspiration for The Bordeaux Book Club :) xx
