Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Mandy Shunnarah I've loved reading for as long as I can remember, so whenever I get into a new hobby, I want to learn all about it. When life brought me to Ohio and I noticed there were skate parks everywhere, I wanted to learn more about the history of skating in the Midwest. I assumed that because so much had been written about the West Coast (especially California) with regard to skating, surely something had to be written about Midwest skate culture as well. After months of searching for such a book that apparently didn't exist, I decided it was time to take the advice of this old writerly saying literally: "If there's a book you want to read that doesn't exist, you have to write it." So, I did!
