Just finished The Broken Eye - now I'm plagued with waking dreams about the possible repercussions for each character and can't think about much else or get any work done. So thank you for that! Questions: Is there a release date for the 4th book yet? Could it get large enough to need to be split out into a 5th book? (I hate waiting but that would be amazing!) Lastly, how do you suggest I fill my time while I wait?
Brent Weeks
Hi, Bethany! Thank you. Um... yes, it is possible. I'm doing my best to wrap it up in four books. A couple of very important main characters want two books' worth of development and action. I'm trying to stuff them back down and get done. This is partly because I've felt abused as a fantasy reader by books that did nothing except extract another $30 from me. I hated that as a reader, and I really don't want to be accused of it as an author. That said, I'm going to write the scenes every day that make this the best series I know how to write, and give the best reading experience I know how to provide. Where editors choose to split that, and what we have to do with the pages afterward is something I try not to focus on too much. Currently, I'm working through a really, really bad situation with... ahem... Gavin... and it's taking all my focus!

I'm a new fan having devoured the majority of your work since the turn of the year, well done on the taking of my money. My question to you sir, do you want to turn one of your series' into a TV/movie & would you relinquish control & risk them butchering your story? Also, can I play Kylar? I was once an extra, so I'm essentially super qualified. Side note, who is your favourite wrestler. Mine was Stone Cold.

#1. Would you classify paryl as microwave, terahertz, or something else entirely? #2. Drafting and color perception outside the visible spectrum seems pretty well researched - can you talk about your research & creation process relevant to those things, and whether there is some small detail you don't expect fans to notice, but are proud you got right?
