One thing that struck me in the WGW series was Dag denying that he had to return to the Lakewalkers and fight malices with them their way because he was necessary the cause, and said that it should never get to the point where any one person is indispensable. Now it seems there are quite a few people all over the political spectrum insisting that they are indispensable. Any thoughts on Being the MC vs group effort?

Not especially; all I had to say in the subject was in the tetralogy. That said, the Lakewalkers are very much about group efforts, because the malices are a multi-generational problem with no certain end. Rather like wrong in our world, that way.
I have read some interesting musings on the hydra-headed aspects of well-designed democratic systems, that they are resilient because they DON'T depend on single individuals or choke points. There's always another layer to step up and take over.

This is tiny, but: In your head, do you pronounce Tej as "Tedge" or "Tey"? South Asian languages vary a lot, so Tejaswini _could_ be either "Tedge-a-swee-nee" or "Tey-as-vee-nee." It's silly, but it kept tugging at the edge of my brain as I read _Alliance_. Ended up switching between the two randomly, whichever "sounded" appropriate at the time. I know your answer may not change this for me, but I wondered. Thank you!

Is there a way to search through questions? I can't find it, yet it's probable my question today has already been asked and answered. What is the necklace you're wearing in your profile pic? I've only just noticed that it's the same you were wearing at the 2012 National Book Festival.

Regarding Barrayar's Time Of Isolation, if I've got the timeline about right: 0-90 years, still had a dwindling tech base; 100-400, Bloody Centuries, regression to Agricultural Age; 400-450, Unification under the Emperor and canonization of the Vor caste; 450-600, Golden Age of the Vor; ~600 years, End of the ToI; ~625, Cetagandan Invasion; ~645, Aral born, ~650, Barrayar freed. Roughly on target?
