I wind myself right up before a book release. Constantly checking tarot cards, the iching all that stuff. Stuff that does the opposite of calming down my mind. Eventually (before my brain blows up) I've got into the habit of walking, looking at trees, birds, and generally heading out to the wild world. That always quietens my mind. How about you do you suffer from "pre-match nerves" and what do you do to stop it?

Damian Barr Andy, well more power to your pen! And to your tarot cards. Walking helps me too, I try to get out every day (this year I had an accident that made this difficult). The prematch nerves are part of it. It helps to know I am not alone with this and neither are you. So thanks for sharing. PS I'm lucky enough to have a garden and find weeding helps.
