Lois McMaster Bujold:
In the Wot5G, do saints have an ability/duty specific to their god, like the Bastard’s saints being able to remove demons? I vaguely recall the Father’s saints maybe being able to compel truth or discern truth from lies, or did I misremember? And the Mother’s saints involved with healing?? What about the others? Thanks for any thoughts you might have.

Making it up as I go, of course. Yes, some Father's saints are canonically able to detect lies, and some Mother's saints to do healing. Other abilities not yet specified. Cazaril, Ista, and Umegat you've met. Cazaril was a full-on saint of the Daughter of Spring, with a boost from the Bastard. Note in this world being a saint, i.e., channeling a god, is a temporary job not necessarily a permanent identity.
That poor shaman who got buried under the rockfall in "Penric and the Shaman" was probably as close to being a saint of the Son of Autumn as it's possible to get.

Good morning, Ms. Bujold! I'm a huge fan of your writing, thank you! I'm far from a writer myself, but like many people, I do have to write some for my job. Most writers say the trick is to just get your thoughts on paper, then go back later and make them good, which is pretty much the exact opposite of what I do. Is that how you do it? And if so, do you think it has affected the way you think and talk as well?

I just finished a reread of the entire Vorkosigan Saga, capped with reading the ARC of Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen, and I couldn't help but notice how often Jole actually is mentioned in passing. So, I now have to ask - did you know what Oliver was, in relation to Cordelia and Aral, way back when you introduced him in The Vor Game? If not, when did that situation reveal itself to you?
Either way, brava!

Any regrets/second thoughts a la Rowling saying Harry should have ended up with Hermione? For example I've never been able to reconcile Aral having Carl executed. Any terran place I can use as a mental picture of Cordelia's bay? Thought about it driving some of the California coast and wondered.
