Subject: Question About the Ending of Anomaly Dear Mr. Cawdron, I recently re-read Anomaly and thoroughly enjoyed revisiting the story. However, I noticed that the ending seemed different from what I remember from my first read several years ago. I was curious—has the ending been revised or updated in later editions? Peter Cawdron Hi Chuck Yes, Anomaly has had two different endings over the years, as has Xenophobia (the audiobook still has the original ending). I know these kind of radical changes are frowned upon, but books really aren't etched in stone. I often think of things and will jump in to tweak something in my novels, but they're normally soft touches. For all the drawbacks of being an indie author (like having zero commercial reach), one of the benefits is I have complete control over my back catalogue, so as I grow as a person and as a writer, I can revisit stories and improve them. Anomaly and Xenophobia were both novels where I did my best at the time, but I wasn't happy with them, so I quietly went back and revised them. I hope you enjoyed both versions (and found it a pleasant surprise). Thank you for supporting independent science fiction. Without avid fans like you—who are interested in reading and even re-reading novels—none of these books would be possible.
