When I was a kid, maybe 12 or 13, I found the Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. It appealed to me because I had always been interested in magic and dragons and all that. Reading that series I fell in love with the fantasy genre and always wanted to be a writer.
I have tried so many times to start an original novel, but every time I realized after a short while that I was just re-creating the works of others. My story didn’t feel original, or unique, just slight variations on what I had read. I sort of decided that maybe writing just wasn’t for me. Recently, I tried again, and this time things just felt right.
