Dr. Jasmine
Dr. Jasmine asked Bruce Borgos:

Dear Bruce, how are you? I stumbled across your book Holding fire", and having read some reviews, simply had to add it to my "to read" list :o) I would like to know, where do you get the information to describe all your characters, making them so realistic and lovable? Do they all relate to people you knew personally, or do you perform some sort of social statistical research? Thank you :o) Dr Jasmine

Bruce Borgos Dr. Jasmine, please forgive me! You sent this eleven months ago and I had no idea. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get notified of questions from readers, but I will find out :). Anyway, to your question: I'm so glad you read Holding Fire. It was my first novel. For most of my stories, I get the idea for what the story will be about, the framework essentially, and then I begin thinking about what characters I need to tell that story. With Holding Fire, I took a plot premise (ranchers vs. the government) and then determined who to populate that world with - Will Bearfoot, Jordan, and John Henry!
I do a lot of research, mostly on WHAT happens, not necessarily WHO happens in the story. Almost always, my characters have nothing to do with me. Again, so sorry for the delay. Please stay in touch. Have you read the Porter Beck novels?
