Hello. I was talking with my son about "The Nightingale's Castle" and we were seeing a connection between Countess Bathory' s "trial" and the Salem Witch Trials in Massachusetts in 1692. What do you think?

Hi Margot and thank you for your question. Yes, I do think there are similarities between the witch trials of Salem and Pendle and what happened to Bathory. The person I kept thinking about when I wrote the book, though, was Anne Boleyn, just because of the political machinations behind the scenes to bring down a once-powerful woman, now considered inconvenient. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the book!
