Paras
Paras asked Lucy Foley:

What would you advise young writers who begin writing something but quit in between, owing to lack of confidence or the fact that no one might be interested in reading them?

Lucy Foley Sorry, Paras, somehow I've only just seen this! I think the key thing is to try to write the book you would want to read. If you, personally, are fascinated by the issues at the heart of the book, the chances are that other people will be. It's important to be honest with yourself on this front, too - if your interest in an idea wanes, chances are it will be palpable to a reader, too. If this is the case it may that you want to look for new subject matter, something that does really grip you. In a nutshell, it's about having confidence that the things that interest you will interest others too - they will!
