I'm a librarian at the Worcester PL (MA) and the leader of our SF Book Club. A few years ago we read A Civil Campaign and in March 2025 we'll be reading Komarr. Many SF authors have joined our meetings, including Allen Steele, Robert J. Sawyer, Walter Hunt, Adam Hamdy, Elizabeth Moon, etc. Would you like to join our online mtg in March, meet some fans, and talk about your book? Love to have you join us!

I believe one must have "friended" someone to use it, which is easy with me because I automatically friend anyone who asks, who appears to be a normal reader. Anyone who has had more experience using this not-intuitively-obvious system, please chime in below with further instructions.
I sympathize with the frustration at trying to use Goodreads to contact someone, but the "Ask the Author" column can only show public replies.

I was pre-ordering "Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen" and discovered I had somehow missed a new novella. What a wonderful treat! Are you planning to release more short works? It's a different type of story telling and I'd love to see more of it. I'd think that Aral and Cordelia's time on Sergyar would be a great place to explore via short stories and novellas.

Hello, I have a writing question about finding that balance between writing for yourself (e.g., the story you yourself would like to read); and considering or taking feedback about "what the public would want." Is there a creative vs. commercial dilemma? Or is it really more that THIS is the story that feels right, maybe people will like it, but if not, oh well. Just curious about how, or if, you balance these? TY

Hi! I am a huge fan. I have been re-listening to the Vorkosigan books recently, and I was wondering… have you considered writing a book about one or more of Elli Quinn’s sons leaving Athos and coming to find her? I think it would be really fun to see how they interact during an adventure together. Thanks so much for your wonderful books!
