Kelly asked Juliet Marillier:

Would you ever consider self publishing e-books for those projects that you wish to pursue that your publisher has denied?

Juliet Marillier Hi Kelly. I would consider self-publishing, yes, but probably only if I did not have any current mainstream contracts for books. I am not a quick writer and I usually only produce one novel a year. My mainstream publishers give me an advance payment so I can pay my living expenses while writing a novel.

At this stage I am fully occupied with the Blackthorn & Grim novels, plus the occasional short story. But self-publishing, or moving to small press, is certainly a possibility for future projects, which could include further titles in the Bridei Chronicles or a third Wildwood book (though I have to say I would probably prefer to do something entirely new.)
