Goodreads asked Mac Evenstar:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Mac Evenstar My writing usually involves finding an idea that's interesting, building a very simple shell for the story, then letting the story take on its own life. Watching the story unfold in front of me is one of the best parts of writing. There are magic moments in which I feel like a conduit more than a writer. I was simply present and faithful, and the story told itself. It doesn't get any better than that, and I think readers pick up on that genuine attempt to tell a story as faithfully as possible.

My other favorite part of being an author is seeing someone's face or hearing her/his voice when they "get it" after reading one of my works. That moment of connection is priceless. I enjoy seeing the story leave my hands and enter a reader's life and become theirs as much as mine.
