I've always been a fan of Greek mythology, ever since grade 8 or so. I still turn to my trusty copy of Gods, Demigods and Demons which I've had for years, if I need something. It was a lifesaver for certain scenes of Balance in Chaos.
But my favorite god is Anubis, and Maria and I were in the process of writing something else when we took a break to futz around with some gods, for fun. We saw potential, and out came Balance in Chaos.
