Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Sherri Winston President of the Whole Sixth Grade is a follow-up to President of the Whole Fifth Grade. And though they follow a sequence, the books are not a series and the second book is quite independent of the first. The idea for the second was spurred by the growing movement to recognize and applaud women in politics and was particularly informed by the Texas Congresswoman who gained national attention a few years back for her filibuster. To utilize a filibuster in a contemporary novel in a fresh way was exciting. I'm quite proud of how it turned out.
