Goodreads asked Tina Carreiro:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Tina Carreiro To understand my answer, you'd have to understand why I wanted to become a writer. When I was a little girl I watched my mother work to exhaustion to put food on the table for my brother and me. She was tired, stressed and miserable, but one thing always made her happy—romance novels. All of life’s issues and the stress of the day faded from my mom’s face when she was reading. I had to know what was in those books. I started sneaking my mom's Gray Eagle series by Janelle Taylor and then understood what allowed her to escape her daily life. That’s also when I knew I wanted to write. If I could do that too--make others happy by writing--that’s what I want to do. What a powerful gift to have and share.

So for me, the best thing about being a writer is when I receive a message from a reader telling me something in my books made their day brighter, allowed them to escape. Something I wrote affected them. For this reason, I will always write and be grateful.
