Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Zoe L. Banks I've always loved fantasy and sci-fi so I wanted to take the contemporary assumptions about the paranormal world and turn it upside down by having vampires with Spock-like logic, daemon's that look more like models then fearsome monsters and added some human's with de novo mutations in the mix. The premise is that they exist in a food-based taxonomy with humans being mere food and high order daemon's making pnuema (soul) contracts with human's and de novo's. It's all a very political and hierarchical system of feeding and power distribution.
