Just write. If you are having trouble, try making it more exciting. If you are bored, a read probably will be too. I didn't follow this rule as tightly in my second novel, and I paid the price in the pacing being slower than I would have liked. I would also recommend having people talk, it helps flow. It is hard to make characters interesting if they are mute or always in their own heads.
