If we'd had a little more time at Vroman's Tuesday, I wanted to ask what you thought about Harper Lee's book being published. Someone pointed out to me that her sister made sure her wishes were respected (not publishing it), then suddenly she dies and the book that sat for 50 years gets published. Thoughts?

Thanks, Janet, for coming to Vroman's! That was a fun event. I really don't know very much about Harper Lee's situation other than the few articles I read about it, but it's certainly an interesting scenario!

I am so thrilled that you have written this newest book as I read The Dante Club right after reading The Inferno in college. I had sent you an email and you wrote back the nicest response in return. I printed that response and showed my students, (I teach high school English) and I then created a project in which they had to read a book and write an email to the author. Why did you decide to write a sequel?
