Tabi asked Cristin Williams:

How did you decide on the setting for The Whisper of Stars?

Cristin Williams I zeroed in on the setting during the research process. The book is set on an island so cold that the sea freezes, making it unreachable for several months a year. At the time my story takes place, it was a political prison where the government sent anyone who posed a threat: princesses and scientists, anarchists and bankers - those whose education or values might make them a threat to totalitarianism. I thought that mix of people could make a rich fabric from which to weave a tale, and the perfect place for exploring themes of resistance, community action, and hope.
