Gary Hoover I'd be more than happy to help you with this, but I may need to understand better. Would you like some questions you can ask to confirm the student has read and understood the book(s), or do you want to anticipate the kinds of comments and questions the student will have? If it's the former, I may be able to help. If it's the latter, I'm not sure I can answer without knowing more about the student. In either case, it would probably be useful for me to know how old the student is and the nature of your assignment.
