1. What do think most characterizes your writing? 2. What inspires you to write?

I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to answer your question! I've been busy on my new novel, causing some things to fall to the wayside...
To answer your questions: 1. I hope all of my novels share certain characteristics: great characters you can connect with, deep emotions that pull people deeper into the story, and a plot that keeps you turning the pages. 2.I’m inspired by the outdoors. I love the ocean and the mountains. I love their expansiveness. They remind me how small and insignificant I am. I’m also inspired by my sons. So much of what I do is to make them proud of me. Finally, I would say that I’m inspired by things I don’t know. For example, when I first heard about nu shu I thought, how could this exist and I didn’t know? Then I thought, how could this exist and we all didn’t know. That set me on a journey that at first was a personal interest and then became a passion and an obsession.

WOW! WOW! WOW! The Island of Sea Women is nothing less than incredible! The cover is STUNNING! it feels so good in your hands as you read. This book is so full of characters you love, stories that break your heart, and research by the author that is so detailed, it drew me to look into these amazing women and their history more deeply. Hey Lisa! I just recently finished The Shanghai Girls, and to be honest it was more than just good. Well written and developed, I literally raised my hands to the sky when I found out there is a sequel (Dreams of Joy). I can't wait to read it. But is there going to be a third book?

Hey Lisa! Thank you for great reading experiments. I used to write stories but I have been on a longer pause. I have asked you a question in past and your answer inspired me so I'm gonna try my luck and ask for your tip this time since I respect you. How do you keep up the motivation, how do you avoid letting the inspiration die? Do you have to encourage yourself to continue writing? Thank you for reading my message.
