What inspires/motivates you to write?

Laura Lee Anderson I think my inspiration comes from the characters I dream up. They are people that I love and want to tell the world about! I loved learning about Deaf culture and wanted the world to know the story about a Deaf boy who loves his culture too. And I love my hometown and want the world to love it too! I want people to meet a girl whose whole definition of love and self is changed in a summer.
Once the characters exist in my head, I feel almost obligated to tell their stories! Right now there's a post-it note by my computer that says, "Scuzzy is counting on you to tell her story." Because if I don't tell their stories, who will? If I don't write about Westfield, who will? I'm writing things only I can write and hoping the world wants to read.
