How do you get inspired to write?

Deborah Burst Since my books are driven by history and photography, it's a combo of books, articles and photos. Most of the time it begins with a scouting trip visiting photographing different cemeteries and historic churches to narrow down book content.

I then write with a split screen, photos on one side, word document on the other. No radio, TV, or distractions except for an upstairs window overlooking ares of trees and the sounds of birds chirping in the background.

And if I'm lucky...RAIN, especially with THUNDER. Then the fingers fly, it really sets the mood and brings out the poetic prose in describing gothic architecture.
