I just finished Mount Char and I really liked it a lot. Like, a lot a lot! I'm a regular librarian so I liked it on multiple levels. I was wondering if you could clarify what some of the kids' catalogs were. I got a good sense of Carolyn, Jennifer, David, Michael, Margaret and Peter (kind of), but what about the rest?

Hi Carey,
As it happens, I have a list! When I was working on the book I had some trouble keeping up with them myself. As you saw, there were a lot of librarians who didn't get a lot of screen time. I'm also straight-up TERRIBLE with names. So when I was putting all the little scraps together into a first draft, there was some confusion.
* Anyway, here's the list from my blog.
* I also did a description of all twelve librarians for Suvudu. This one's got little anecdotes about the librarians, especially the ones who didn't get much screen time.

Thanks for answering! I agree about the David/Carolyn scene, and I think it was handled really well. I actually felt that the bull scene was a lot more shocking. I also think the book is more dark fantasy than horror. How did you know when to make the switch from writing books for 'the drawer' to writing one that you felt was good enough to try and get published? Thanks!

So, I read Library a while back and fell in love with it. Then later discovered the audiobook and have listened to that more than a few times in subsequent years (it's easier to "read" when I can listen and do other things at work!). I'm wondering how do you feel that Hillary Huber did in bringing the story to life and giving voice to characters? Especially Carolyn?
