Justine from Novels and Panda
Justine from Novels and Panda asked Kasie West:

Read all five of your books, they're all great! (Can't wait for what's next too!) And I cant help but notice the character names. Do you thoroughly thought of it before naming them? or do you just go on and write "oh, Hayden sounds like a perfect fill-in boyfriend"?

Kasie West What's in a name, right? ;) Hayden was named by a friend a mine. I told her she could name my next boy and she did. It worked out because then I was able to find the story behind how he was named (the poet). Sometimes I'll find the story first and then name them, but in his case, I had the name and had to find the reason why he was named that second. His name was particularly important because Gia didn't know his name for so long. So I wanted it to have a back story. Sometimes I don't have backstories for the names I choose, they're just ones I like. But yes, names are hard for me. I have to think about them for a long time because I know I'll be using them and saying them and typing them for a while.
