Vicci asked Jonathan Stroud:

As an adult who reads your books (well, Bartimaeus and now Lockwood&Co), I'm curious as to what age and audience you're usually thinking of when you write? Everything I've read of yours is clearly either children's or YA, and yet they seem 'adult' enough that I don't generally feel like I'm reading a children's book. Anyway, keep 'em coming! :)

Jonathan Stroud Thank you! I try to write books that work both for the 12-year-old kid that I was, and the grizzled middle-aged guy that I now am. I always have these two sides of me in mind, and that (hopefully) keeps my audience broad.
