Great question, Shannon! There are so many answers. Here's one: Although they're not the same, doing tae bo and watching my brother advance in jiu jitsu (sometimes by practicing on unsuspecting victims like me) inspired me to create the underground boxing tournaments in "Released from the Darkness."
