I smiled when you wrote "Day of the Triffids-fav book and movie for me also, and "I am legend" book and original 1954 and 1971 films. Question: When you write do you see film images at some part in the process?

Great question. Thank you! Likewise with 'I am Legend' - a truly groundbreaking novel, and 'The Last Man on Earth' remains the best of the adaptations (with Will Smith's forgettable version being the worst by a long margin, in my opinion).
In answer to your question - yes, I approach writing novels from a very filmic direction. In fact, I like to get an idea developed to such a stage that I can almost watch the movie version in my head (if that doesn't sound too pretentious) before I actually start writing.
It's a double-edged sword though, as I think it means I'll always be unfairly critical of any movie adaptations of my books (case in point, Autumn starring Dexter Fletcher and David Carradine). In my head I have perfect locations, an unlimited budget, thousands of extras, ground-breaking special effects... In the real world, however, I don't!

Hello Good Sir! I am a huge fan of your writing and I have only just begun. I started with Hater, sorry it took so long to discover your masterminded awesomeness:) not that I am huge fan of great books being adapted into films but if Hater were to become a film do you have an idea of who you have in mind for Danny and the other chracters? Also what is your favorite horror flick and your favorite horror book?
