Goodreads asked Brenda Cheers:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Brenda Cheers Picture this: a person sitting before me with a story about how they would really like to be a writer. They have been told they have the talent, but--you know--there are obstacles: job, spouse, children, sport, hobbies--there's just no time.
My advice? Try rising one hour earlier each morning and before you have your coffee or breakfast, or indeed anything at all, just sit down at the keyboard and write. Or instead of watching your favorite TV show of an evening, plop yourself in front of the computer and write. Do this seven days a week for a few months and you have a first draft.
Just write. Easy.
