More Answered Questions

Connie
Connie asked Alexander McCall Smith:

Is there a point in sequential novels that you feel your characters have said everything you want them to say? How does an author decide when enough is enough and go on to the next big idea? I wondered if your process, as a writer, thinks about that eventuality and you plan accordingly.

Jude
Jude asked Alexander McCall Smith:

Where did the idea of Bertie come from?

Emi L
Emi L asked Alexander McCall Smith:

What I find surprising is that, although you are a professor in Medical Law and an expert in Bioethics, you do not have a doctor as main character in your novels. Forgive my ignorance if I am wrong, but it seems only natural that you wrote about people and environments you are so familiar with. Would you contemplate this option for future novels? Best regards, Emilia
