My novel was inspired by a short story I wrote for a creative writing class during my senior year of high school (no capitalizing on trends, here.) As a very young person, I didn't have the life experiences to develop and expand the story into the sort of multifaceted thematic concept I envisioned for the story, so I shelved it until I felt more capable as a writer.
