Hillary Marek How do you deal with writers block?
EBay. Yes when I feel like I have looked at a blank page for more than 20min. and nothing is coming to mind, I log on to ebay, click category, click "other" then type in the word "free" then sort by time ending soonest and free shipping. Then in the box where you can pick price limits I put 0.01-0.55 USD. Then, whatever the first three things in the results list are I bid on them up to the .55¢ point. If it doesn't win I do it again until my cart has 3 off the wall totally random prizes in it totalling no more than $1.75
This sounds silly, and trust me it is. However it gets me out of my head long enough to activate the other side of my brain and also have a good laugh at what ever insane made in China gadget I now own. In all fairness though, I use that orange peeler ring like all the time. Then when I go back to my desk to write I have a thousand things swimming in my noggin and I make a game of trying to incorporate my recent purchase into the story line somehow. Now you know where some random plot twist happened and why. EBay y'all. All about some EBay.
