I just finished The Suffering and loved it so much. I was wondering if you plan on writing any more to the series? Please say yes.:) I haven't had enough of Okiku yet.

First off - thank you very much! I am always happy when I get asked these sort of questions.
Secondly, I love and hate trilogies. On principle, I would adore every book that extends the stories of characters I've come to love. But plot-wise, sometimes some trilogies would have been better as a duology, or even as a stand-alone. The stories in the second and third books have to be just as compelling as the first. They have to be written because there are more stories of them to tell, and not just because every series should be a trilogy just for the sake of making it a trilogy.
The Girl from the Well started out as a stand-alone book. I pitched a sequel much later, when the book was already on its way to being released, because I had some ideas that didn't fit in the first book that I thought would suit a sequel / companion novel very well.
That said, I don't have more stories about Okiku and Tark to tell that would validate a third book. At least, not now. I don't want to write a third book just to write a third book. I want to have a good story in place first before I add to the series.
That said, would I ever write a third book about Okiku and Tark somewhere down the road, should inspiration finally hit? Absolutely - whether that comes a year from now or five years from now!

Hello! So I read The Girl from the Well at the beginning of the month and I think it was absolutely stunning. I just have one question though, how did you come up with such a unique plot? I know that Okiku is based off an old Japanese legend, but what inspired you to write a story about ghosts and Okiku? Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to reading more by you in the future.
