I have always loved mythology, particularly Greek, and I find Dionysus a fascinating character. Over the years I've read retold myths (John Updike's "The Centaur" and C.S. Lewis' "Till We Have Faces" are two favorites) so I decided to try my hand at retelling a myth. So Dionysus has become Dax, a newspaper heir and playboy in Chicago. It was a lot of fun to write.
