Eliza Rose asked Sherrilyn Kenyon:

Okay okay, I met you at Comic Con in San Diego this Summer and was nervous [story of my life there] and completely forgot the question I so desperately wanted the answer to! [In fact, all of my work wants to know the answer too cause I don't shut up about it.] I may have missed the reasoning behind this, but why Sweet Home Alabama when he enters Sanctuary? Why that song???

Sherrilyn Kenyon My older brother was a decade older than I. When I was a young teen, he used to take me to a pool hall near our house where his extremely attractive girlfriend worked. We'd play pool and wait for her to get off work to make sure she got home safely, as some of the clientele could be rowdy, and they made her nervous. As a former Army man, varsity football, and current weight-lifter and bouncer/security guard at that time, my brother was a large, well-muscled mountain of a beast, but he was good-natured so long as you didn't mess with her or me, or his daughter. And he was good friends with the guys who owned the place.

Did I mention his girlfriend was really good-looking and it was a rough crowd? But my brother was a great bouncer and his size helped, especially once people realized they were dating. So as a courtesy to all the guys who hung in the bar, the owner would play Sweet Home Alabama anytime my brother or I (because if I was there, my brother was parking the car) walked in to let them know Buddy was in the house and they needed to leave his girlfriend alone). It was one of my brother's favorite songs so it's my homage to my brother that I put in the series. Hugs!
