How easy was it to stick to the flawed female cop? We've been there with male detectives for years and some female leads have some psychological hang-ups in other peoples books but poor Lotte is a mess. I loved the insights, the divergent asides when her mind drifts onto something else quite tangential. It makes for a much more interesting character but it can't have been an easy sell to the publisher surely?
